CBCA Book Awards Winners 2008
The Children’s Book Council of Australia has announced the winners of its book awards for 2008.
The winner in the category for Older Readers is Sonya Hartnett, for The Ghost’s Child.
The Honour Books (or runners up) in the same category were Marty’s Shadow by John Heffernan and Black Water by David Metzenthen.
Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Do they deserve these awards or are there others you have enjoyed more?

i’ve read all the CBCA books and i thought Pharaoh shoould have one.
Probably because it is probably for my age group thats why it didn’t win.
Ghost’s child really i didn’t see any significant things about the book.
and i thought Marty’s shadow was about a boy who is very weird and i thought depressed.
Probably one of my favourites were Black Water really good story line loved it!
Also leaving BArrumbi last book i read pretty good but it kind of changed storyline during the middle of the book.
Other people’s country was really good. about a family moving to the outback cool!
And don’t get me started with Love like water thought it was really confusing and probably a bit old for my age group. Each paragraph it had a different storyline but in the end it all went well the book.
Loved doing the cbca thing probabl doing next year too!
